Sunday, March 11, 2018Hello, My name is Kerry and Upha was my nanny and housekeeper from the time I was born practically until I was about 11 or 12 years old. A significant part of my childhood memories include her. From colouring with her at my dinning room table, watching day time tv, her telling me that I could talk her up the wall, being made peanut butter and jam sandwiches with butter in them (which I thought was very funny), having her braid my very long hair all the way to the bottom, staying at her house while my parents were away(I have an odd memory of a clown figure holding balloons), going to the movie theatres and seeing Tarzan, going to the playground and swim practise etc... She always was so patient with me and always made me feel special (she also made the most amazing apple pies!) I loved her like she was a part of my own family. In my teen years we lost touch but I never forgot her. My family has tried to track her down several times but did not know her last name. I stumbled across her obituary today when I was yet again trying to get in touch to and tell her of my engagement and invite her to my wedding. She was a wonderful charismatic, strong woman and she will be missed. My condolences during this hard time.

Saturday, February 17, 2018Oh Upha , you came into my life 15 years ago as a friend and mother in-law. You broke into my heart and stayed just long enough to teach me about loving myself . You made me feel valued and understood during some very dark times. All you ever asked in return was a simple hug and to be part of our family. Now your time is up and you have to go. I could spend my days wondering why you were taken from all of us and allow that pain to dictate my belief in the higher power but in the end I would always come back to just loving and missing you. You were such a bright light in our lives that I am incapable of remaining angry about your passing or pointing fingers at God and demanding answers. You never asked why when things didn't go your way, you never once questioned or pointed fingers at fate, you simply picked yourself up and kept moving forward with a grace and dignity that was truly inspiring. You have taught me to except life as it is and that courage and resilience is born from your " glass 1/2 full " mentality. Thank you Upha for all of this, thank you for walking with my family for all those years , for your huge heart and ability to love fully and unconditionally. We will see you on the other side <3 <3 <3

Thursday, February 15, 2018The angels looked down from heaven one night They searched for miles afar, And deep within the distance They could see a shining star. They knew that very instant That the star was theirs to gain, So they took you up to heaven Forever to remain. Look down on us from heaven Keep us free from hurt and pain, You'll always be within my heart Until we meet again.
