MacKINNON , William “Bill” Francis -Age 88, of Elmsdale and formerly of Sydney, NS passed away on January 29, 2018 at the Colchester East Hants Health Centre, Truro.
Born in Sydney, he was the son of the late James and Mary (Chant) MacKinnon.
Bill was a former employee of Devco, retiring in 1987. He was active for many years with Sydney Minor Hockey and Baseball Association. He was a former member of the Kiwanis Golden “K” in Sydney, and Christ Church in Sydney.
He is survived by daughter, Susan (Roy) O’Callaghan, Elmsdale; son, Mark (Catherine Burchell), Kanata, On; and his granddaughters who he was so proud of, Alicia, Julia and Sarah, as well as a brother, Walter (Judy) On.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his wife, Mary (Garland) and son Paul at birth; sisters, Murdena Powell, Florence Gates and Margaret Burns; brothers Jim and Victor.
Cremation has taken place. Memorial service will be held 11am Friday, February 2 in Ettinger Funeral Home, 2812 Highway 2, Shubenacadie, Rev. Valerie Rhymes officiating. The family would like to thank all of the doctors and nurses who took such wonderful care of Dad these past 6 weeks.
