Obituary of Willis Dickie
DICKIE, Willis Ralph, age 90, of Pugwash formerly of Truro and Meaghers Grant, passed away peacefully on January 10, 2018 at the East Cumberland Lodge, Pugwash.
A kind and caring husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and friend. Willis left a lasting impression on all who knew him. He was a truck driver and heavy equipment operator most of his life, working for various construction companies through out the province, and later in life was owner/operator of Willis R. Dickie Backhoe & Trucking. He was a 25year member of the Meaghers Grant Volunteer Fire Department and was a long-time member of the River Oaks Golf Club.
Willis loved life, his family and picking a tune on his mandolin, he loved to sing and would sing a song to anyone who would listen.
He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Betty (Dunbrack); daughter Karen Flynn, her children, Danny (Rachel), Jason (Heather), and Scott; son, Rob (Lori), his son, Matthew; daughter-in-law, Diane her children, Tanya (Terry), Angela, Tony (Heather), with another on the way; brothers Harold “Hal” and Walter; sisters, Marg Stewart and Lou Romans.
He was predeceased by his parents, Harry and Margaret, son Bryan; sister, Jean; brothers, Everett and Murray; son-in-law, Howie Flynn; daughter-in-law, Cindy (Redmond).
Cremation has taken place under the care and direction of Ettinger Funeral Home, Shubenacadie. There will be no visitation or service by request.
Donations in memory of Willis may be made to any SPCA Animal Shelter, Diabetes Association or Alzheimer’s Society of Nova Scotia.
