Gestures
One of my favorite memories of David involves him showing me a set of speakers he had -- he turned them up very loud and played the song "Time" by Pink Floyd. As the song started, with all the alarms and clocks -- it (as the song does) continued to build and build -- we were both like children, "giddy" with excitement, as it was sounding so amazing on these speakers -- we both knew what was coming -- the crescendo -- David (during the build-up) made the comment, "...and it hasn't even kicked in yet." -- it was one of those moments of pure music revelation and admiration. It doesn't matter how often you've heard the song Time, when you are with a Fellow Floydian, the appreciation of their sound cannot be overstated.
"Ticking away the moments that make up a dull day
Fritter and waste the hours in an offhand way
Kicking around on a piece of ground in your home town
Waiting for someone or something to show you the way" ~~ Dark Side of the Moon, Pink Floyd
There was never going to be enough time, but there will always be enough love, enough light, and enough sun. David, you taught me how to be a better listener, more patient, humble, and -- quite simply -- a better person. Thank you for showing me the way. ~~Until we meet again~~
"Say not in grief, 'He is no more,' but in thankfulness that He was."
We light this candle in memory of a much loved brother, brother-in-law and uncle. David will be remembered for his sense of humour (wiggling his ears for the youngest family members, playing on words and seeing the humour in everyday life), his quiet wisdom, courage through adversity and his love of the natural world. We are grateful for the time spent with him in Canada, for the opportunity we had to meet Cindy, Millie and his Canadian family and for the assurance that he was in good hands. We are grateful for sharing his life in Canada with all it's beauty. David was at one with nature - he will be remembered through the beauty of the sea and lakes, the beaver and the sound of the Loon, autumnal trees and starlit skies. You are at peace now David. Much love as always, Jacques, Dave and Ben xxx
Dad and Tina wholeheartedly endorse the sentiments expressed by Cindy in the obituary to David Ernest Childs. We wish to extend our thanks to Cindy and her family for their love and care given to David during the years he lived in Canada, the country he loved so much. So many happy memories of a much loved Son taken too soon. Rest in Peace David in your lovely Canada.
Love Dad and Tina xx
