Obituary of Christine Marie Ann Dowling

Please share a memory of Christine to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
DOWLING (RICHARDS), Christine Marie Ann, age 63, of Enfield, peacefully passed away surrounded by her beloved daughters, son in law, sister and brother in law in the V. G. Site of the QEII Health Science Centre, Halifax. Born in Halifax, she was a daughter of the late Harold and Leona (Laphen) Richards. Christine was born to a large and loving family. Her greatest childhood memories include time spent with her parents, brothers and sisters, apple picking in the Valley, Christmases on Summit Street, and dances at the boat club. Christine has touched the lives of countless individuals. For 26 years she fed people in her community and she did so with kindness, humour, endless energy, playful sass and earrings for every holiday. Her passing will be felt by many as she was a staple in her community. She will be remembered for her humility, selflessness, unwavering love and devotion to her family and friends, her kindness and compassion toward others, and above all, the undeniable bond and love shared between her and her two daughters. Christine will be deeply missed by her daughters, Jackie Dowling and Lindsay Dowling-Savelle (Adam Savelle); siblings, Sandi (Ronnie) Fox, Ken Richards, Joanne (Ralph) Ballam, Mike (Brenda) Richards, Jimmy (Valerie) Richards, Harold (Laurie) Richards and Tony (Kelly) Richards; numerous nieces and nephews. Besides her parents she was predeceased by her in-laws, Archibald and Mary Dowling; her brother, Joseph in infancy; sister-in-law, Paula. Christine has loved many family pets over the years. At the time of her passing she shared her home, meals, bed and love with her favourite little companion, Miss Millie, who will miss her dearly. The family would like to thank Dr. Helika Adams, Dr. Bell, Dr. Sutherland, Dr. Purdy, Dr. Green, Dr. Boudreaux, Dr. Tan, and the kind and compassionate team of nurses who cared for her during her illnesses; all provided her with much comfort and compassion that her family will be forever grateful for. Cremation has taken place under the care of Ettinger Funeral Home, Shubenacadie. Visitation will take place on Thursday, November 2 in St. Bridget’s Roman Catholic Church, Shubenacadie from 7-9pm. A funeral mass will be held on Friday, November 3 at 2pm with Father Phil Thibodeau presiding. To honour Christine’s giving spirit and love of children, please consider making a donation, in lieu of flowers, in Christine’s name to Autism Nova Scotia, 5945 Spring Garden Road, Halifax, NS B3H1Y4, or a charity of your choice.
