GALLAGHER, Winston-age 92 of Lower Economy formerly of Elmsdale and Saint John, NB, passed away August 16th at home after a short illness. During the Second World War, Winston was a member of the Armed Forces 2nd Anti-tank Regiment, having served in England, France, Belgium, Holland and Germany. After his service ended, he was employed by Guildford’s and retired in 1984 from Maritime Insulation after 35 years. He lived in Elmsdale then moved to Saint John, NB in 1968. He spent summers with his family at the cottage in Lower Economy and moved there permanently in May 2004. He was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Br.# 48, Elmsdale for 59 years. Winston is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Helen; sons, Bruce, Lower Economy and Brian (Patti), Saint John, NB; grandchildren, Heather, Scott and Paul; great granddaughters, Georgia and Gwen; step great grandsons, Logan and Gage; sister, Evelyn Brown, Amherst; several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents Clarence and Margaret; sister, Hazel; brothers, Chester, Curtis, Wylie and Kenneth, half-sister Margaret, half-brother, George. Cremation has taken place under the care and direction of Ettinger Funeral Home, Shubenacadie, NS. A graveside service will be held 2pm Saturday, August 26 in Economy Cemetery, nephew, Glen Gallagher officiating.
