Obituary of James Wilfred Francis

FRANCIS, James W. “Junior” -age 82 of Indian Brook , passed away July 22, 2017 in the Colchester East Hants Health Centre, Truro. Born in Truro, he was a son of the late James and Mary (Thompson) Francis. He served in the Canadian Army, 1st Royal Canadian Regiment as a paratrooper, completing 35 jumps. As a talented drywaller, he was well respected and he trained many apprentices. Later in his life, he was quite proud to be a business owner, operating Jr’s Variety Store for several years. He will be sadly missed by daughter Desiree (Matthew “Mack”) Grantmyre, Indian Brook, brother George Paul, Eskasoni; sister Millie Yogis, Florida. He had a special bond with his two grandchildren, his namesake James and his “saviour” Sadie, whose birth marked a turning point in his life. The last few months spent in his new home were his happiest. He was predeceased by several of his siblings and sadly by many nieces and nephews. Cremation has taken place, there will be no visitation by request of the deceased. A funeral mass will be held 11am Tuesday July 25, 2017 in St. Kateri Roman Catholic Church, Indian Brook, Father Phil Thibodeau officiating. A private family burial will be held at a later date in St. Catherine’s Cemetery, Indian Brook. Condolences, words of comfort and memories of Junior may be shared at www.ettingerfuneralhome.com
