Keith Weatherhead

Obituary of Keith Weatherhead

WEATHERHEAD, Keith Leroy - age 81, of Upper Kennetcook formerly of Upper Rawdon passed away July 21, 2017 in the Colchester East Hants Health Centre, Truro.

Born in Upper Rawdon, he was a son of the late Tommy and Ruth (Gilbert) Weatherhead.

Keith worked in road construction for many years for several construction companies and was proud of his work in building many of Nova Scotia’s highways. Following his career in construction, he worked at the East Hants Municipal Landfill where he was recognized with a provincial Environmental Award. Keith was well known as an outstanding dozer operator, but his true passion in life was his farm, first dairy, and then beef before he retired in 2011.

Always a strong community member, Keith was a 4-H leader with Rawdon-2-Way 4-H club, was known to help out whenever a neighbor needed a hand or a tractor, and always made sure a new community member was welcomed with a visit.  He enjoyed gardening, planting trees, his drives, loved a good story or a prank, and was fiercely proud of his children.

He will be sadly missed by his wife of 54 years, Annie (Lantz); son, David (Sue) Hayward, WI; daughter Lisa, Cole Harbour; siblings, Bud (Nancy), Bessie, Wilma Duncan, Verna (Harry) Chernoff, and Dick (Elsbeth), as well as many nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by son, Danny and an infant son and brother, Gilbert.

Visitation will be held 2-4 and 7-9pm, Saturday July 22 in Ettinger Funeral Home, 2812 Highway 2, Shubenacadie from where a funeral service will be held 2pm Sunday, July 23, Rev. Gloria McClure-Fraser officiating. Interment will follow in the Upper Rawdon Cemetery.

We wish to extend a sincere thanks to the staff of the Colchester East Hants Health Centre for their caring support over the last few weeks.
