MacDONALD, Eleanor Jean -74, Nine Mile River, passed away suddenly and peacefully at home surrounded by family on April 21, 2013. Born in New Glasgow (Lourdes), she was a daughter of the late Alfred and Dorothy (Smith) Mahoney. She was a caring mother and devoted wife. She worshipped her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Eleanor was a lover of nature and especially birds. She will be sadly missed by her husband of 53 years Edgar, children Darrell (Patricia), Enfield; Leah (Nick) Bedford; Edgar (Donna), Wilmot; Pamela, Lantz; grandchildren Terra, Scott, Christopher, Angela and Josie; great granddaughter Maelyn; brothers Jerry (Heather) Mahoney, Truro; Jimmy (Debbie) Mahoney, Arisaig; sister Freda (Jimmy) MacDonald, Dartmouth; several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by brother Joseph, sister Marguerite Decoste. Cremation has taken place under the direction of Ettinger Funeral Home, Shubenacadie. There will be no visitation by request. Funeral Mass will be 11am Thursday in St. Bernard's Roman Catholic Church, Enfield, Father Andrew Rembarczyk officiating. Family burial will be in the parish cemetery. Reception will follow in the Church Hall. Memorial donations may be made to the Caring and Sharing - Angel Tree Food Bank c/o 145 Highway 2, Enfield, NS B2T 1C8 or the SPCA.
