Please share a memory of Mary to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
NIEFORTH, Mary – Bible Hill formerly of Carroll’s Corner. It is with heavy hearts that the children of Mary Eleanor (Marchbank) Hall Nieforth must share the sad news of her sudden passing on February 18, 2017 at the QEII Hospital in Halifax, surrounded by her loving family. Mom was the daughter of the late George and Eleanor (Dyment) Marchbank. She was born in Woodvale, PEI on December 16, 1933. She and her family later moved to Onslow Mountain in 1943. After graduating from the Truro community college, she began her career in the office at Goodspeeds. She later became office manager at the Truro Wholesalers. Mom married Clarence (Hank) Hall in 1952 and they raised their 6 children in Bible Hill. She was a very active member of the St. David’s United Church and the community of Bible Hill/Truro for 30 years. Mom's best friends, her card club ladies, met regularly at each other’s homes and have continued to do so for the past 59 years. She returned to work at various office positions over the years after being at home with her babies. Mom remarried in 1982 to Alfred Nieforth and moved to Carroll’s Corner where they operated successful businesses. She joined the Milford/Lantz United Church and was quickly embraced by the community which she loved dearly. Always the perfect hostess, it was her greatest pleasure to have a houseful of people in for great food and company. Many fond memories have been made at her home over the years. A few years after the death of her husband, Mom moved back to Bible Hill in 2013 and remained in her home until her passing. Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories are her children; Donald (Debbie) Hall, Karen (Tom) MacGillivray, Heather (John Gauthier) Popoff, Mary-Lee (Lloyd) Robeson, Beverly Hebert, Sandy (Scott) Gilbert Grandchildren: Robb (Lauren) Hall, Lindsay (Paul MacDonald) Robeson, Shari (Clint) Hall, Lloyd (Tonya Poole) Robeson, Christopher (Brandy) Popoff, Paul (Carolyn) Hebert, Jenalee (Scott) Patterson, Derrick (Layne) Popoff, Mary Janet (Grant Karr) MacGillivray, Joe MacGillivray, Chase (Ania) Hebert, Courtney Hebert, Donald MacGillivray, John MacGillivray, Carrie Jean Gilbert, and Beverly Gilbert, 6 step children, 16 great grandchildren, and 8 step great grandchildren., Mom's siblings; Isabelle McLean, Jack (Colleayn) Marchbank, Alan (Verna) Marchbank. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her siblings Margaret (Harold) Rix, James (Myrna) Marchbank, Anne Wenham, Arnett Marchbank, Mae Ayer, and son-in-law, Leo LeBlanc, and beloved nieces and nephews. Always involved in numerous charities and organizations, she was also famous for her baking. She would tell you it was the butter that made it taste so good but we all knew it was her love she put into it. A special thank you to our Angel on earth Lyn (Grant) Brown for her companionship and tender loving care she gave to Mom. Also, thank you to the support from the Truro VON team, Dr. Phillips and all the staff involved with Mom's care at the QEII hospital. Our mother was our hero, friend, confidant and will be dearly missed everyday. We love you and we were so blessed to have you as our Momma.
