Please share a memory of Joseph to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
KOHOUT, Wenzel Joseph Jr. "Joe" - Oakfield, it is with great sadness we announce the unexpected passing of our husband, father, grandfather, Joe, on May 4, 2013. Born on July 28, 1938 Joe was the son of the late Wenzel Kohout Sr. and Agnes (King) Kohout . Joe spent his early years as a truck driver and enjoyed bowling, deer hunting and camping with friends and family. In his recent years, Joe was an avid armchair athlete with a passion for watching baseball and curling with his good friend Paul Kelly and a Bud Light in his hand. Joe was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 48 in Elmsdale for 40 years. Joe had a unique talent and will be best known by friends and family for his unbelievable recollection of dates and birthdates. Many, many people received calls every year on their special days from Joe. Joe is survived by his wife of 47 years Vivian Anita (Brimicombe) Kohout, daughters Glenda Currie and Donna (John) Conrod, grandchildren, Selina, Jacob and Owen, step-grandchildren, Cynthia, Melissa and Christopher, step-great grandchild Nash; sisters Joan Campbell and Wilma (Ralph) Brimicombe, brother Christopher (Dreena) Kohout and several nieces and nephews. Joe was predeceased by sister Frances Thompson. A special thank you to Joe's doctor, Dr. Terrance J. Mullan, for his years of continual care, and to the Emergency Measure Providers for their dedication and compassion. Cremation has taken place under the care and direction of Ettinger Funeral Home. A Celebration of Joe's life will be held at 2-5 pm on Friday, May 10, 2013 at the Grand Lake Fire Hall, 22 Lakeside Drive, Grand Lake, NS. Casual attire is welcome.
