Obituary of Owen Prescott MacPhee

MacPHEE, Owen Prescott - age 86, of East Gore, passed away August 23, 2016 in Mount Hope Long-Term Facility, Dartmouth. Born in Upper Rawdon, he was a son of the late Haley and Viola (Grant) MacPhee. Owen worked many years as a heavy equipment operator and also as a foreman with the Department of Transportation. He was a hobby farmer and a devoted fan of the Toronto Maple Leaf’s and Toronto Blue Jays. He enjoyed attending the East Hants Penguins hockey games and going to card parties. He is survived by his wife of nearly 64 years Phyllis (Harvey) MacPhee; children, Barrie (Sandra), Windsor; Janet (Elbert), Enfield; Anna (Michael), California; Robert (Beverly), NB; Rodney (Natalie), AB; Greg (Jeannie) East Gore; Alda, ON; Lynn (Reg), AB; 19 grandchildren and 32 great grandchildren. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by sisters, Anna and Audrey; brothers, Lawrence, Harold, Robert, Gerald and Doug. Cremation has taken place. Visitation will be held 6-8pm Sunday, August 28 in Ettinger Funeral Home, 2812 Highway 2 Shubenacadie. A Celebration of Owen’s Life will be held 2pm Monday, August 29 in Rawdon Hills United Church, Rev. Ruth Brown officiating. Interment to follow in the Upper Rawdon Cemetery with a reception in the church basement. The family would like to extend thanks to the RN’s and staff of Willow Hall for their compassionate care shown to Owen over the past several years.
