HENNIGAR, Earl James “Jim”, of Maple Grove. It is with heavy hearts the family would like to announce the passing of our husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend. Jim, in his 87th year. Born in Maple Grove, he was a son of the late Leslie and Gladys (Cook Royles) Hennigar. Jim worked on the Dominion Atlantic Railway for 36 years retiring in 1986. Jim was a member of St. John the Baptist Church, Latties Brook, where he served as warden for several years. He looked after the care of St. John the Baptist Church and Cemetery. In his younger years, he was also a member of the Maitland Fire Department and Four Points Recreation Centre. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Luella (Burton Weatherbee) Hennigar; daughter, Beverly (Randy) Bennett, Maple Grove; sons, Melvin (Zoey) Hennigar, Alliston, Ontario; Joel, Fort McMurray, Alberta; step-sons, Stanley (Jean) Weatherbee, Maple Grove; and Robert Weatherbee, Maitland; many grandchildren and great grandchildren. Also survived by sisters, Leah Webb, Courtney, BC; Edna (Ralph) Bilby, Halifax; Barbara (Gordon) Pratt, Halifax; and brother, Gerald (Geraldine) Hennigar, Toronto, Ontario. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by son, Charles Norman; sisters, Viola, Verna, Pearl and twin sisters, Irene and Eileen at birth; brothers, Archibald, Norman, Grant and foster brother, Lloyd. Jim enjoyed working with his tractor, bush hogging in the summer and plowing in the winter. He could be counted on to help anyone in need in the community. Jim lived his whole life in Maple Grove on the hill where he was born. The family would like to extend special thanks to the Colchester East Hants Palliative Care Team and the VON for allowing Jim to remain in his home until his passing. Cremation has taken place under the care and direction of Ettinger Funeral Home. Visitation 6-9 pm Thursday, July 7 in Ettinger Funeral Home, 2812 Highway 2, Shubenacadie from where a Celebration of Life Service will be held 2pm Friday, July 8, Rev. Fred Rhymes officiating. Interment will be in St. John the Baptist Cemetery, Latties Brook. Live webcasting will be available at 1:50pm at: www.ettingerfuneralhome.com.
