Obituary of Jimmy Allen Parnell

Parnell, Jimmy Allen - age 52, of Dartmouth, passed away 27 June 2016. Born in Halifax and raised in Dutch Settlement, he was a son of Annette (Bonnevie) and the late Robert Parnell. Jimmy was a dedicated, hard worker in all his jobs, from haying as a young man to working the lumber yard at Elmsdale Lumber, to 18 wheel truck driving out west in Grande Prairie, and most recently at Midland Transportation. Jim loved the country life. Jimmy grew up in Dutch Settlement attending Carroll’s Corner, Dutch Settlement Elementary and Musquodoboit Rural High School. Jim was predeceased by his dad, a brother, Randy and nephew, Matthew. He is survived by son, Nathan Parnell; his mother, Annette; brother, Robert (Janice) Parnell, Red Earth, AB; sister, Darlene (Lenny) Hiltz, Lake Egmont, NS; brother, JD Parnell, Halifax, NS; nieces and nephews, Danielle, Jessica, Clarissa, Jacqueline, Tiffany, James; great-nephew, Tyler Karney. Jim also leaves behind a large extended family who shared his life’s journey. He will be deeply missed and remembered by his family and extended family, Doug, Mike& Jennifer, Frank, Danny and especially his dog, Bits. Cremation has taken place under the care and direction of Ettinger Funeral Home, Shubencadie, NS. A celebration of Life will be held 2 p.m. Wednesday, July 6, 2016 in St. George’s Anglican Church, Dutch Settlement, NS, Rev. Canon David Fletcher officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. A reception will follow. Donations in memory of Jimmy may be made to the St. George’s Anglican Church.
