Van der KOOI, Lois Audrey, age 76 of Shubenacadie, passed away Saturday, April 16, 2016 in the Colchester East Hants Health Centre, Truro. Born in North Salem, she was a daughter of the late Isaac and Lila (Parker) Langille. Lois was a professional hair dresser all of her adult life, most recently she worked for Ettinger Funeral Home. She enjoyed music, played the piano and organ and also took guitar lessons. Lois was a talented baker who loved to bake for her family. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and sister. She will be sadly missed by her husband of 53 years, Reinder, children, Craig Van der Kooi, Sherry Van der Kooi, Christine (George) Blois and Michael Van der Kooi, grandchildren, Jessica, Dale and Taylor, great granddaughter Jordan, sisters Phyllis MacPhee and Marion (Ralph) Williams, numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by sisters Pearl Robinson and Beatrice Curry. Visitation will be 2-4 and 6-8 PM Wednesday in the Ettinger Funeral Home Shubenacadie, from where a funeral service will be held 2 PM Thursday, Rev. Martin Reid officiating. Burial in Brookside Cemetery will take place at a later date. Memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer Society.
