Obituary of Joyce Alberta Roche

ROCHE, Joyce Alberta – age 80, of Halifax, passed away peacefully on February 18, 2016 at North Wood Centre, Halifax. Born in North Salem, she was a daughter of the late Albert and Bertha (Weir) Roche. After completing high school, Joyce went on to Secretarial School and worked as a secretary at S. Cunard and Co; Nesbitt Thomson; Eatons; Imperial Oil; CBC and CFTO TV, Toronto. Upon returning home to Nova Scotia to assist her ailing mother, she worked at the Victoria General Hospital, Halifax. She loved to entertain children by singing and playing her guitar or pump organ. She is survived by her brother, Wayne Roche; nieces, Shirley (Dave) Wilcox, Kathleen (Rich) Ross; nephew, Michael (Amy) Roche, great niece, Erin Roche and great nephew, Corbin Roche, all of St. Catharine’s. Cremation has taken place under the care of Ettinger Funeral Home. A graveside committal service will be held 4pm June 11, 2016 at Brookside Cemetery, Mill Village. A reception will follow in the Royal Canadian Legion Br. 111, Shubenacadie. Special thanks to Kelly England for the comfort and care shown to Joyce, especially in the last year.
