URQUHART, Catherine Marie, Age 67, of Shubenacadie passed away suddenly on February 6, 2016. Born in Falmouth, NS, she was a daughter of the late James and Blanche (Boyd) Mason. Catherine was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and sister who loved her family deeply. After retirement, she spent most of her days with her husband, Alex and kept very active with her children and grand-children attending sporting events, dance recitals, and equestrian competitions. She also enjoyed spending time with her friends at Tim Horton’s in Stewiacke, her friend Ruth, and her shopping trips with Margie. She saw the value in a hard days’ work and never hesitated to help out her family in times of need, always putting her family first. She always persevered in difficult times and always maintained the ability to laugh and never take life too serious. She is survived by daughters, Judy (Jamie) Taylor, Lantz; Shelley (Rod), Stewiacke; stepsons, Lowell Dixon (Stacey), South Harbour, Cape Breton; Ron (Dianne) Dixon, Lower Sackville; grandchildren, Carlie, Emma, Ethan, Katie and Jack; great granddaughter, Ava; sisters, Marguerite (Perry) Logan, Windsor Forks; Ida Shaw, Windsor Forks; Sheila (Stuart) Marsh, St. Croix; June (Frank) Lorencovitch, Falmouth; Barbara (Ken) Flemming, Oshawa, ON; Judy Matheson, Scarborough, ON; Betty (Bill) Hunter, Brooklyn, ON; brothers, James (Adeline), Brooklyn, ON; Gary (Heather), Oshawa, ON; sisters in law, Winnie, Ajax ON; and Margaret Mason, Kentville; numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her loving husband, Alex, of 43 years; sister, Eleanor Edwards; brothers, Robie, William, Harold, Robert, Donald and Jake Mason. Cremation has taken place under the care and direction of Ettinger Funeral Home. Funeral service will be held 2pm Saturday, February 13th in Ettinger Funeral Home, 2812 Highway 2, Shubenacadie, Rev, David LeBlanc officiating. Spring interment in Brookside Cemetery.
