MacKINNON, Lewis Murray, age 68 Shubenacadie. It is with great sadness that the family announce that he passed away peacefully on April 29, 2015 at Colchester East Hants Health Centre, Truro. Born in New Glasgow, he was the son of the late John and Rose (Barss) MacKinnon. Surviving are sisters Edith Watt, Dartmouth; Ruth (Wayne) Hatt, Shubenacadie, and Linda (Eddy) Cameron, Stellarton; nieces, nephews and many friends both professional and personal. A native of Lower Barney’s River, NS Murray worked with the Royal Bank of Canada before moving to Toronto where he lived for forty three years working in the travel industry as owner/operator of MacKinnon Travel. He studied voice for eight years at the Royal Conservatory of Music and sang in the Toronto Mendelssohn Choir and the Toronto Symphony. Murray had a passion for travel, playing the piano and singing but most of all he loved his family and friends. He has made an impact on all those who have had the opportunity to cross his path. Cremation has taken place under the direction of Ettinger Funeral Home. No visitation by request of the family. A memorial service will be held 2pm Sunday May 3, 2015 at the Shubenacadie United Church, Dale Crawford DLM officiating. Private family interment at a later date. Memorial donations may be made to Palliative Care, Colchester East Hants Health Centre, Truro or Murray’s Point Cemetery, Lower Barney’s River.
