SCHIAVETTA, Joseph "Joe" - 90, Enfield, passed away peacefully July 4, 2013 in the Colchester East Hants Health Centre, Truro, surrounded by family and loved ones. He was born in Dundee, Scotland, he was a son of the late Luigi and Margaret (Rock) Schiavetta. He was a veteran of the Second World War and served under HRMS, he received many medals for his bravery. Joe loved to share his stories and memories and was passionate about educating school children about the Second World War. He was a life time member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch # 133, Enfield. Joe loved to sing ("Oh Danny Boy" , "Scottish Soldier" and "How Great Thou Art"). He will be remembered for his determination and strength and his generous spirit and concern for others. He is survived by his loving wife of 49 years. Joan (MacDonnell) children Maria, Anna, Peter (Michelle), Margaret and Angela; grandchildren Nicole, Tyrel, Justin, Ryan, Jacob, Johnathan, Kayla and Megan; sisters Cathie, Maria, Lena and Margaret; brothers Ronnie and Peter; many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by brothers John and Louis, and a sister Lily. Cremation has taken place under the direction of Ettinger Funeral Home, Shubenacadie. A legion service will be held at 1:45pm followed by a funeral mass at 2pm, Monday in St. Bernard's Roman Catholic Church, Enfield, Father Andrew Rembarczyk presiding. Interment in St. Bernard's Columbarium, Enfield. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Canadian Diabetes Association. A reception will be held in the RCL Br. 133, Enfield.
