LANGTHORNE, Ronald Oliver "Finn" - 68, Enfield, on July 7, 2013 my world was shattered. I lost my husband and best friend. Ron was born in Argyle on May 13, 1945, he was the son of the late Ervin and Reta (Peters) Langthorne. He was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion Montgomery Branch 133, where he loved to sit and talk with friends. He worked in construction for many years. He loved the time he spent at "the camp" playing with his bull dozer, feeding the deer and having a cold one. He loved hunting, fishing, reading, driving the old back roads and spending time with his grandchildren. Ron will be greatly missed by his wife and soul mate Cheryl (White) (MacAloney), daughter Lindsay (James Baxter), Enfield; step daughter Lisa (Wade Farquhar) Lantz; step sons Jeff MacAloney (Yvette), Enfield; and Terry MacAloney (Tanya), Enfield. He had six grandchildren who he loved dearly, Nicholas Farquhar, Noah Farquhar, Callie Baxter, Cohen Baxter, Chayse MacAloney and Alaina MacAloney; also surviving are brothers Brian (Patsy) Langthorne, Gary Langthorne and sister Judi (Mike Cranmer) and sister in law Dorothy Langthorne (Carl Ally), also surviving are three children from a previous marriage. He was predeceased by brothers Robert "Bob" and twin brother Reginald. Cremation has taken place under the care of Ettinger Funeral Home. Visitation 7-9 pm Wednesday, July 10 in Ettinger Funeral Home, 2812 Highway 2, Shubenacadie, with a legion service at 7pm Funeral service 10am, Thursday in St. Bernard's Roman Catholic Church, Enfield, Father Andrew Rembarczyk officiating, with a reception to follow at the Enfield Legion. Special thanks to Dr. Montgomery, Dr. Bowes and Dr. MacNeil as well as nurse Terry Murray that took great care of Ron. To the VON and Palliative Care Team, we will thank you forever for your care and compassion. A special thanks to our neighbor Maureen Cullen (you're an angel). Ron always said that we were a team and that we could do anything we set our minds to, but cancer was bigger than both of us and we couldn't beat it.
