Obituary of Wayne Williams

Please share a memory of Wayne to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
WILLIAMS, Wayne Douglas aged 56, of Mill Village, Hants County, died Saturday, July 27, 2013, at home after a brief but courageous battle with cancer. Born in Halifax on December 10, 1956, he was the son of Marion (Dennis) and the late Loran Williams. He was a loving husband and father, a devoted son and brother, and a faithful friend to many. Wayne had a way of making those close to him feel special and few escaped without an endearing nickname. Though Wayne initially started to train as an electrician, much of his working life was devoted to carpentry and construction. Wayne enjoyed the simple things in life: spending time with family and friends: sharing a good joke, laugh, or a little friendly teasing; being outdoors; designing and building his assorted projects; playing hockey and watching his sons and their friends play. Despite the hardships of his sixteen year bout with chronic pain and his recent illness, Wayne always stayed positive and expressed his belief that life is good; always one to find the silver lining in a difficult situation, he was grateful for being given the chance to spend so much quality time with and getting to truly know his sons, of whom he was so proud. He is survived by his wife Cheryl, son Cory (Tisha McLean), Alton, and Cody, at home; his mother, and sister Angela, Shubenacadie; mother and father-in-law Shirley and Donald Andrews, Stewiacke; sister-in-law Christine Andrews(Don Matheson) and niece Haley Bradbury (Ravi Vaz), all of Lower Sackville; and his beloved grand-puppies Wendell and Willow. In addition to his father, he was predeceased by his maternal and paternal grandparents and uncle Allen Annand, who was more like a brother to Wayne. At Wayne's request, there will be no visitation or service; cremation has taken place under the direction of Ettinger Funeral Home in Shubenacadie. Those who wish to honour Wayne's life may do so by donating to a charity of their choice. Condolences may be sent to the family by signing the guestbook at www.ettingerfuneralhome.com.
