Obituary of Dennis Syliboy

SYLIBOY, Dennis William. Age 63. It is with great sadness we announce his sudden, peaceful passing on July 26, 2013 at home. Born in Truro, he was a son of the late John Thomas and Helen(Paul) Syliboy. Dennis was an awesome third baseman when he played baseball. He was a survivor of the residential school. He lived in Boston in the early '70's and worked as a roofer and labourer. He also worked as a seasonal worker in Maine, picking blueberries and potatoes. Dennis worked as a carpenter, helping to build apartment buildings, the police station as well as the Community Centre in Indian Brook. He also made Christmas wreathes. He is survived by daughters Denise (Roger Julian), Indian Brook and Nancy Anne Syliboy, Elmsdale; granddaughter Helen Keira; sisters Christine Syliboy and Madeline "Mudd" Syliboy, both of Indian Brook; Godchildren Eugene Syliboy, Tashina Williams; Doreen Knockwood, Stevie Paul, Lyle Syliboy and Allison Paul; many in-laws: the Googoo Family of Indian Brook; numerous nieces ,nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his wife Susan Anne"Susie"(Googoo) Syliboy, son Dennis W. Syliboy Jr. "Baby Dennis"; six brothers and three sisters. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Ettinger's Funeral Home, Shubenacadie. Visitation will be 6:30pm Tuesday at 16 Poplar Lane, Indian Brook. A funeral mass will be held 2pm Thursday August 1, 2013 at St. Kateri's Church, Indian Brook, Father Tom Kurudeepan O.M.I. officiating. Cremation will take place, with burial to follow at a later date. Donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or the Nova Scotia Lung Association.
